Literature Text

Awhile after I turned 8 years old, and after 2 years of making imaginary friends out of just Pokemon and other cartoons, I finally decided to make an original imaginary friend. After watching the Incredibles movie, I began to pretend that I was a superhero, using my red blanket as my cape. I didn't know what superpowers that I could use, until I had an idea. Inspired by my cat Tigger, I wanted to be able to turn into a cat.

I announced to my other imaginary friends that I was going to make another friend, then I made the magic happen. I closed my eyes, then I heard my friends saying that there were “sparkling things” floating in the air, which meant that my imagination was working. After hearing a big boom of light, I opened my eyes and saw him: my first Creation – Kidcat!

He was to be my super secret identity … and yes it is a he. I thought that was also weird as kid, too … to change your sex when you transform into a superhero. But I didn't care, I wanted him to be a male, because the idea of a cat girl was actually already taken. He had a rough, grumpy voice, with something similar to a New York accent. He had grumpy eyes, all brown fur with a striped tail, and very long, sharp teeth. He was also anthropomorphic.

I jumped for joy as I saw that my imagination created my very first original imaginary friend/pretend superhero identity.

“Where am I?” Kidcat asked.
“You are my friend, I created you!” I answered.
“What is your name?” Kidcat asked.
I introduced myself (as well as my other imaginary friends) to Kidcat.
“So, let me get this straight, you created me?” Kidcat questioned.
“Yes, and I am your friend” I nodded, “But you are also me, as in a superhero identity of me”
Kidcat then started to look a little flustered, until he quickly accepted the confusing facts of this strange reality, since he had no other choice but to believe me.
Then, him and I merged together to make us a part of each other. Kidcat's powers were stored in my brain, and I could turn into him anytime I wanted.

I thought about some superpowers for Kidcat, which were all of the superpowers that I could think of: invisibility, telepathy, levitation, etc.. I wasn't very creative, but I didn't care, I thought that I could do whatever I wanted with my imagination.

I made the main villain from The Incredibles, as well as a few other characters from my favorite cartoons, my arch-nemesis(es). I also imagined that they had Pokemon, so I fought with them in Pokemon battles. I even drew those particular villains, and made little “stories” about them. Those little “stories” were from a big notebook that Mom gave me, which was supposed to be used for my homework, until I quickly gave up and decided to draw on it. I made little stories about me, my family, and even my pets traveling inside the world of movies and video games.

Kidcat was going to make an appearance in one of those stories, but I didn't have enough pages to actually make it happen. Instead, he just appeared as a floating ball of light, which was something that he could actually turn into. Let me explain: inside my mind, Kidcat would turn into the form of that said ball of light, connected to my neurons. I know that sounds very messed up, but that's just how it was.
I debated on whether I wanted to continue on with making imaginary friends out of the cartoons that I watched, or just make up my own.

Word of advice,I would personally keep some of your best ideas in story making to yourself, until you get it published because you never know who's reading them, they could steal your ideas.
